Two vintage photographs side-by-side, each showing a baby held by a person completely obscured by a dark, draped cloth.

NiSi 16mm f/2.8 ASPH G-Mount Review: There Might Be Such a Thing As Too Wide

A Fujifilm GFX camera with a wide-angle lens and an electronic viewfinder attached, set against a blurred outdoor background with a PetaPixel Reviews logo in the corner.

The Fujifilm GFX system has been around for nearly a decade, and it's safe to say it's been a great success for Fujifilm. A good indicator of the GFX's success is that third-party lens makers are getting in on the fun, including NiSi.

What I’ve Learned After 20 Years of Photographing Fall Color

A triptych showing a rustic water mill by a stream, a porcupine perched in a tree, and a misty forest landscape at dawn.

After 20 years of photographing fall color, I'm sharing the lessons that have helped me plan better outings, find stronger compositions, and build a more varied portfolio. Growing up in the Northeastern U.S., autumn has always been one of the times of year that draws me outside with its explosion of color and fleeting window of opportunity. Over the years, though, I've learned that creating great autumn photographs isn't simply about being in the right place when the leaves reach their peak.

Ilford SFX Is a Superpanchromatic Film That Works Wonders with a Red Filter

A split-screen view shows three boxes of Ilford SFX 200 film inside a metal mesh container on the left, and a Holga 120S camera with film and a red filter on a fish-themed background on the right.

One of our staff members used to joke that combining a Holga with a red filter and a roll of Ilford SFX was like shooting fish in a barrel: you couldn't miss. While that sentiment is perhaps a little hyperbolic, it is not too far off the mark.
