Andrea Enger is an adventure-seeking, award-winning Colorado-based photographer and elopement expert. Over the last fifteen years, she has photographed hundreds of weddings and elopements, accompanying her clients to far-flung locales (such as Patagonia, Chile) and stunning landscapes (such as the Maroon Bells in Aspen), to help them commemorate and memorialize their perfect, “big” day. Born and raised in Chile, Andrea’s love of photography began with her father. He was never without a camera, it seemed. For as long as Andrea can remember, he was there to capture and document the meaningful– and the seemingly mundane– moments of her family’s life. When he passed away when Andrea was 12, his absence left a hole. Where there was once someone there to observe and record and immortalize, now there was none. Perhaps Andrea sensed a need to step in and pick up where he left off, but regardless, a desire to photograph quickly took root. Since she couldn’t afford a camera of her own, Andrea was always borrowing them from friends. Her husband eventually bought Andrea her first SLR camera– a Canon RX– and, as they say, “the rest is history”. With that camera in tow, she embarked on another of her favorite pastimes– travel– and ventured around the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe for eight months, and then started visiting the glorious national parks of the United States– documenting, of course, each precious step of the way. In 2013, Andrea photographed her first wedding. A self-described “romantic at heart”, it makes sense that she fell into this line of work, as she is genuinely very curious about how people meet, and connect, and then fall in love. Soon, she was able to dovetail her deep passion for photography with her ardent love of travel, and thus began her adventure elopement business. She has now traveled to over 28 countries and counting and relishes following her clients to whatever wondrous, super-beautiful locales they wish to venture to. Although capturing stunning photographs and crafting a perfect wedding experience are top priorities for Andrea, it is almost equally important to her that her work expresses and honors her deepest values. First, Andrea believes that love is love. She considers it pure joy to collaborate with her clients– whatever their size, color, creed, or orientation– in creating the wedding of their dreams. Second, she cherishes our Mother Earth. As such, she practices Leave No Trace principles and strives to make her business as environmentally sustainable as possible. She believes, also, in giving back, and thus donates a percentage of the proceeds from each of the weddings she photographs to organizations that protect our planet and provide clean water to those in need. Furthermore, as a woman of color, Andrea values inclusivity and is working hard to help her industry achieve more diversity. Additionally, Andrea venerates education and embraces what she feels is her duty to share her knowledge, skills, expertise, and insights with other creatives.
