Husband and wife Ropate Kama and Gitte Meeussen are from totally different backgrounds - he’s from Fiji and she’s from Belgium - so they are naturally intrigued and fascinated by the constructs and varieties that make up different customs and cultures. “Especially when it comes to weddings, as these cultures and traditions tend to be more magnified and intricately displayed.” Luckily, they add, the Indigenous Fijian (or itaukei) culture is very rich, meaning weddings can last several days and are filled with many varying rituals, costumes and ceremonial exchanges. Aside from that, Adventure Elopements are where they are also in their element as they are innately drawn to the rugged, raw, untouched landscapes of Fiji and countries that they travel to for destination weddings, and they find great satisfaction in connecting couples to these spaces to complete the experience.
