Husband and wife Ropate Kama and Gitte Meeussen are from totally different backgrounds - he’s from Fiji and she’s from Belgium - so they are naturally intrigued and fascinated by the constructs and varieties that make up different customs and cultures. “Especially when it comes to weddings, as these cultures and traditions tend to be more magnified and intricately displayed.” Luckily, they add, the Indigenous Fijian (or itaukei) culture is very rich, meaning weddings can last several days and are filled with many varying rituals, costumes and ceremonial exchanges.
